What Is AI Image Generation?
AI image generation is the process of creating visual content from text descriptions using artificial intelligence models. You type a prompt describing what you want — "a golden retriever sitting in a field of sunflowers at sunset" — and the AI produces a photorealistic or artistic image matching your description.
These models have been trained on millions of images and understand concepts like composition, lighting, style, perspective, and artistic techniques. The results can range from photorealistic photographs to painterly illustrations, depending on the model and your prompt.
Choosing the Right AI Model
FP AI Studio offers 6 different AI image models, each with unique strengths:
Mystic (Freepik Native)
Freepik's own model, optimized for commercial-quality stock-style images. Great for marketing materials, social media posts, and professional content. It produces clean, well-lit images with good composition.
Flux 2 Pro & Flux 2 Turbo
Flux models excel at photorealism and following complex prompts with multiple subjects. Flux 2 Pro delivers the highest quality, while Flux 2 Turbo is faster with slightly less detail. Choose Pro for final outputs and Turbo for quick iterations.
Flux Dev
The development version of Flux with experimental features. Good for creative exploration when you want something slightly different from the production models.
Seedream V4.5
Excels at artistic and creative imagery. If you want painterly, illustrative, or stylized results, Seedream often outperforms other models. Particularly strong with fantasy, sci-fi, and conceptual art prompts.
HyperFlux
The fastest model available. When you need results quickly and are iterating on ideas, HyperFlux delivers reasonable quality at impressive speed. Ideal for brainstorming and concept exploration.
Writing Effective Prompts
The quality of your prompt directly determines the quality of your output. Here's a framework for writing great prompts:
The Prompt Structure
A well-structured prompt typically follows this pattern:
[Subject] + [Setting/Environment] + [Style/Medium] + [Lighting/Mood] + [Details/Modifiers]
Example: "A majestic snow leopard resting on a Himalayan cliff, dramatic mountain landscape in the background, wildlife photography, golden hour lighting, sharp focus, National Geographic style"
Be Specific, Not Vague
- Vague: "a nice house" — could produce anything
- Specific: "a modern minimalist white house with floor-to-ceiling windows, surrounded by a zen garden with bamboo, architectural photography, soft morning light"
Use Style References
Mention artistic styles, photography techniques, or specific aesthetics:
- "cinematic lighting, film grain, 35mm photograph"
- "oil painting style, impressionist, textured brushstrokes"
- "clean vector illustration, flat design, minimal colors"
Fine-Tuning Your Results
Beyond the prompt, FP AI Studio offers several controls to refine your output:
Aspect Ratio
Choose the right dimensions for your use case:
- 1:1 — Social media posts, profile pictures
- 16:9 — Blog headers, presentations, desktop wallpapers
- 9:16 — Phone wallpapers, Instagram stories, TikTok
- 4:3 — Traditional photo format
Guidance Scale (CFG)
This controls how strictly the AI follows your prompt. Lower values (3-5) give the AI more creative freedom, producing unexpected but sometimes interesting results. Higher values (7-12) make the AI adhere more closely to your description. Start with 7 and adjust from there.
Seed
A seed number ensures reproducibility. If you get a result you like, note the seed to recreate it. Change the seed slightly to get variations of the same concept.
Pro Tips for Better Images
- Iterate rapidly — Use HyperFlux or Flux Turbo to test prompts, then switch to Flux Pro or Mystic for the final version.
- Add negative context — Some models support negative prompts. Use them to exclude unwanted elements: "no text, no watermark, no blurry".
- Leverage upscaling — Generate at standard resolution, then use the Image Upscaler (up to 4x) in FP AI Studio's editing tools for print-quality results.
- Study what works — When you get a great result, save the exact prompt and settings so you can refine and reuse the approach.
- Mix models — Try the same prompt across different models. Each interprets prompts differently, giving you more options to choose from.
